[ Well, at least it's good to see she recovered.. so good that he won't even question her priorities here - Shinpachi questioning anyone's priorities would be hypocritical as all hell, anyway. What matters is that she's better after all that, and since he does feel a little bad for not being able to fully protect her, he doesn't mind indulging her a little. ]

Mostly since Shinpachi hasn't dealt with enough women in his life to understand they may still take two hours when they say they're still getting ready.. he just really does assume she'll be done right away when he gets to her place, hence why he sounds pretty enthusiastic about it still. ]

BUT YES SHE'S GOING TO START GETTING READY. Shinpachi is honestly fortunate that Leanne has learned the art of getting prepared so quickly after living with two men; by the time he arrives she should be ready.

[ It's probably a good thing that Shinpachi doesn't even need to get ready - it's not like he's ever found modern clothes in Zelien that didn't feel weird as hell to wear, so he just always wears his usual outfit.. so without having to make himself look any different than the usual for their little shopping trip, he can just saunter out of the Shinsengumi apartment and towards hers. The only thing he does make sure of is to at least make sure his swords are sheathed at his side as always. This place may be a lot better than Zelien so far, but he isn't going to fully trust it enough to leave those at home.

Still, grabbing those takes no time whatsoever, and so Leanne may find him knocking on her door (what are door bells.. knocking is already weird enough, what's so wrong about just sliding them open?!) only a little bit later. ]

Yo, Leanne-chan, it's me!

[ Yeah, who else would it be, Shinpachi.. ]

[ Her harem maybe??

Leanne's in the middle of tying her hair back when she hears a knocking at the door and Shinpachi's voice quickly accompanying it. ] Hold ooooon! [ She's walking past a mirror and of course she has to give herself a quick look despite being in her casual clothes.

But eventually she does open the door and takes no time to step out and close it behind her. ]

Hey! Sorry, you didn't wait long, did you?

Nah, not at all. [ And even so, Shinpachi's slightly more of a patient guy than what he seems like. When it counts, anyway.

Glancing at her, he pauses for a moment and thinks back on another conversation they had.. his nose wrinkles somewhat awkwardly, but then he says-- ]

You're, uh.. lookin' pretty today. [ Said in the most awkward tone ever. He remembers the whole cute vs pretty conversation, okay, if she likes being called pretty when she looks good and it makes her happy, then he's trying to indulge it? But he doesn't know.. how to.. girls... ever.. so it just comes out as him being awkward as hell.

(Even this, in his mind, still doesn't involve romance whatsoever.) ]

[ Wait what's going on.

Leanne wasn't exactly prepared for that, so even if his tone of voice was extremely awkward she can still feel the heat rising in her cheeks. It's not like she said or did anything to receive a compliment like that, so he's just.. saying it to say it?

For a split second she can't believe it, but she knows that Shinpachi doesn't have a lying bone in his body. ]

Thanks.. I, uh, I don't have any makeup on today, so.. [ Should she even be explaining that!? Isn't it obvious? ] Never mind, let's start heading out! [ Said while grabbing him by the arm and pulling him with her. ] I wanna look at shoes, dresses, maybe I should look for a few blouses, too, hm..

[ Making a mental list of everything she wants to check out, yes. ]

[ It's probably for the best that she turns away the topic from that - because he'd probably say it doesn't make a difference if she wears make up or not, and that's at least true to him. Leanne looks cute even naturally, but then again, she told him to no longer call her cute so he can't say that either! Life is hard when you're Shinpachi.

Especially when you're being dragged along and certainly hear these things. His eyes are already going wide. ]

I already went to some places with my roommate, but I still haven't seen everything yet.

[ So she's planning on changing that today. ]

[ Now Shinpachi will finally experience the true horrors of living in a more modern world.. being dragged along for shopping by a woman.

He doesn't even realise just how bad it'll be, but somehow he's formed a faint idea.. ]

So we're gonna go to all these clothing stores. [ Because he's seen them while exploring, okay. He thought Kyoto was a big place with all the stalls and shops and all, but this is a whole different world.. why in the world would anyone need this many shops for clothing this close together. Why. ]

[ She waves a hand idly. ]

And while we're at it we'll even check out a couple things for you! [ Because she can't have the bf walking around in the same clothes everyday alright. She has standards. ] We'll even get you something that'll finally cover up your chest.

[ Because she doesn't care what he says he will not survive the winter that way. ]

[ If his tone before could be best described as "hesitant", by now it's in full protest for sure. Because there's nothing worse you can do to Shinpachi Nagakura than to threaten the freedom of his muscles, really.. ]

And his struggling is only met with Leanne holding onto him with both arms. Nope, there's no escaping it, once Leanne makes a decision she's going to stick with it even if she has to drag him. ]

[ She's going to dress him up. Not even Sano can save him now. ]

Your clothes-- [ .. he never even thought about that?! Shinpachi's the kind of moron who doesn't understand this stuff until it's pointed out to him, so he glances down to her clothes, and.. well.. they're tighter (in a sense) than the ones he's used to seeing on girls, okay!! So there may actually be the faintest blush on his face before he looks away.

[ She looks up at the same time he looks away, tilting her head a bit to the side before the corners of her mouth form a frown. ]

That's not an excuse either! [ She huffs, putting some more pet to her step when the exit the apartment complex. ] Don't worry, as long as you have me here we're definitely gonna find you something.

[ But she comes first.

AND WE'LL JUST SKIP THE WHOLE SHOPPING MONTAGE OF HER TRYING CLOTHES ON AND HIM TRYING TO HIDE HIS BONERNOT BLUSH AT ALL TIMES. So he's probably carrying three bags in each hand at this point as she walks ahead. She's absolutely giddy, practically skipping down the street before she finally stops in front of another store. ]

Ah, here we go! [ She points. ] We'll go in here next.

[ Yep that sure is a men's clothing store. Are you prepared to say goodbye to your muscles, Shinpachi? ]

[ No, this is the moment he's been dreading.. he could bear being dragged into tons of different clothing stores. He could bear watching her try on stuff and trying to hide his boner not blush at all times. He could handle carrying all her stuff. No problem.

He texted Sano in the meantime and none of that helped either, thanks, Sano.. "compromise", he said.. what part about this is compromising, he can't help but think as he stares at the storefront?! ]

Y.. you're really that sure 'bout doing this? C'mon, Leanne-chan, it's not like you're my wife..

[ It takes her a moment, a few seconds to realize that this was all a reality. That she was already in the store with Shinpachi following behind, already picking something out for him, and was trying to register if he just used her name and the word "wife" in the same sentence. ]

Your.. wife. [ She can feel her heart racing, and before she can think twice she's already turning slightly enough to elbow him right in the stomach. ] It's not! So don't go around saying it like that!

[ Now this is something even a vigilant Shinsengumi captain like Shinpachi didn't see coming.. he just sees her turn a little, but that much doesn't raise his suspicion. Not until her elbow is promptly buried into his stomach, and his eyes grow wide at the realisation as he wheezes for the air he's lost. ]

[ WHY RANDOM VIOLENCE. He doesn't even realise what he did wrong here?! ]

It is! But that shouldn't be the first thing you say!

[ Say girlfriend first at least!? --No! ] Just forget it.

[ She brings her attention back to the rack, sighing heavily as she tries to calm the rapid beating in her chest. ]

Ah.. let's see, you're the type to look better in darker colors, so.. [ Distracting herself with clothes, yep. If Shinpachi's complaining then it's going in one ear and out the other as she picks out a few clothes for him. Specifically shirts that will cover up his pride. ] Have you ever worn a pair of jeans before?

[ She's guessing not but who.. knows..
